Hoseok is a Ph.D. student of Interdisciplinary Program in Urban Design and Planning at the University of Washington. Hoseok’s work starts from questions like “Why do some regions thrive but other regions decline?” and interests in a broad range of socio-economic impacts of technological development and digital technologies into urban space.
With regard to this, Hoseok’s research interests lie in regional economic development, urban spatial structure, transportation policy and technologies, and economic and environmental impacts of urban infrastructure. He is also interested in land use, public health, and climate change. He pursues interdisciplinary research and various analytical methodologies from economics, geography, statistics, sociology and computer science.
Before Coming to Seattle, he worked as a senior researcher for Industrial Location Research Institute at Korea Industrial Complex Corporation. He conducted several research projects regarding new industries, the youth, digital technologies in the perspective of regional economic development and economic geography. He holds a Master’s degree in Urban Planning from Seoul National University. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Urban Administration from University of Seoul.
